New website from GNB helps make life easier for seniors

New user-friendly website developed by the Government of New Brunswick gives NB seniors easy online access to program information and services

Sometimes navigating through government programs can be an intimidating and daunting experience, especially if you haven’t spent a lot of time seeking new information online. Given the current pandemic, in-person office visits are not ideal and phone calls can be challenging if there are hearing or speech impairments. That’s why we’re excited to share a new website by the Department of Social Development – SocialSupportsNB.ca – that was recently launched to help New Brunswick seniors learn more about social programs, services and financial assistance from the comfort of home.

SocialSupportsNB.ca offers a one-stop shop for all Social Development programs, from home care and housing options to health and wellness tips. Created for and tested by seniors across the province, this new website helps simplify a complex system of programs, empowering seniors, their families and caregivers to find out about what’s available, who’s eligible and how to apply to relevant programs.

The website features a clean and clear design, including large easy-to-read print and visual navigation, as well as a user-friendly search function at the very top of the main page.

Given the website is a new online resource, users are invited to share their feedback via a short online survey to make it even easier in the future for seniors to find what they need. Eventually, the website will grow to encompass services from additional government departments, including community supports for people with disabilities, individuals and families.

If you’re seeking information for seniors but are unsure where to start, we invite you to check out SocialSupportsNB.ca to learn more about the programs, services and supports that could make your life – or a loved one’s life – that much easier.
